OFFENSE HARD TO COME BY IN PIRATES' DEFEAT AGAINST MOBRIDGE-POLLOCK

Both teams were strong in the circle on Monday, but Mobridge-Pollock was just a little bit stronger at the plate in their 3-1 victory over the Lady Pirates. The Lady Pirates were the first to get on the board when Rilyn Thury tripled and was driven in by a single by Macy Voigt. However, that was all the scoring the Pirates could mustard for the game. M. Voigt led things off in the circle for the Lady Pirates. The starting pitcher allowed seven hits and three runs over four innings, striking out six and walking one. M. Voigt led the Pirates with one run batted in. The right-handed hitter went 1-for-2 on the day. Rilyn Thury had two hits in three at bats.

AVON LADY PIRATES MAKE A RUN AGAINST FLORENCE/HENRY BUT FALL SHORT

Despite a 4-run deficit in the fourth inning, the Lady Pirates almost came all the way back, eventually falling 5-4 to Florence/ Henry. The Pirates cut the shortfall in half in the 4th when Pria Sesler walked and was driven home on a double by Macy Voigt. Kaeli Wallinga then drove in Voigt with a single. Florence Henry added one in the top of the fifth to make the score 5-2. The Lady Pirates tried to rally in the bottom of the fifth when Abby Gretschmann led off the inning with a single and was driven in by a double by Jordyn Voigt. Kaeli Wallinga singled to score J. Voigt. However, the Lady Pirates could not get the tying run across the plate. Macy Voigt opened the game for the Lady Pirates. The pitcher allowed nine hits and five runs over five innings, striking out 10 and walking four. Jordyn Voigt and Kaeli Wallinga each collected two hits for Avon.

LADY PIRATES CLOSE OUT THE REGULAR SEASON WITH A BANG!

Macy Voigt hit two home runs and drove in six as the Lady Pirates defeated Parkston 16-6 in a game that was moved to Yankton due to rain. Voigt homered in the first and fourth innings. Parkston opened the scoring in the first inning, scoring two runs. Avon responded in a big way when Jordyn Voigt led off the bottom of the first with a homerun to left. Rilyn Thury followed with a double and after a walk to Pria Sesler, Macy Voigt delivered a 3-run homer to take the lead 4-2.

Avon got busy again in the bottom of the third inning. Brielle Voigt doubled and was driven in by a single by Jordyn Voigt. Rowan Brandt was hit by a pitch and Kaydence Metzger walked. Jordyn Voigt singled and Rilyn Thury doubled, making the score 9-2. The Lady Pirates added seven more runs in the bottom of the fourth inning on eight hits. Brielle Voigt singled, scoring one run, Jordyn Voigt singled, scoring one run, Thury singled, scoring two runs, and Macy Voigt homered to center field, scoring three runs. Voigt began the game for Avon Varsity Lady Pirates. The starting pitcher surrendered 11 hits and six runs over five innings, striking out eight and walking three. The Lady Pirates tallied 15 hits in the game. Thury, Voigt, and Voigt each collected three hits for Avon.
