MULTIPLE HOME RUNS LEAD THE LADY PIRATES PAST SCOTLAND/MENNO TRAPPERS 17-11

Macy Voigt hit two home runs and drove in four as the Avon Lady Pirates defeated Scotland/Menno Varsity Trappers 17-11 on Monday, April 14th. Voigt homered in the fifth and fourth innings. Scotland/Menno opened the scoring in the first scoring two runs and then added one more in the top of the second to push the Trappers out to an early 3-0 lead. Ashley Tolsma got the Lady Pirates on the board when she homered to right field, scoring two runs in the bottom of the second. Scotland/Menno responded by scoring six runs on five hits in the top of the third inning. The Lady Pirates made the score 9-5 in the bottom of the fourth inning when Voigt hit a solo home run to right field, Brielle Voigt singled, scoring one run, and Abby Gretschmann singled, scoring one run. Avon flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the fifth, scoring 11 runs on 12 hits to take the lead, 16-10. The biggest blow in the inning was a grand slam to center field by Rilyn Thury that drove in four. Kaydence Metzger pitched four and one-third innings in relief for the Lady Pirates. The pitcher gave up seven hits and two runs while, striking out five and walking none. Macy Voigt led things off in the circle for the Lady Pirates. The starting pitcher gave up eight hits and nine runs (eight earned) over two and two-thirds innings, striking out three and walking seven. The Lady Pirates accumulated 21 hits in the game. Gretschmann, Tolsma, Jordyn Voigt, Macy Voigt, Kaeli Wallinga, and Pria Sessler each collected multiple hits for Avon Varsity Lady Pirates. The Lady Pirates will travel to Alcester-Hudson for their next game on Monday, April 21st.
