Our local council #2676 had our September meeting on Tuesday the 3rd and 23 members were present. The main subjects at the meeting were final plans for the first annual trap shoot and sales of raffle tickets for the gun raffle. Mike Beeson did a great job lining up help for last month’s Dante Harvest Festival to sell tickets. Special thanks to all the knights that helped at that event! The council voted to donate $250 towards a Human Trafficking sign that will help build awareness on the issue! Steve Cotton and Ryan Beeson cooked the meal for the September meeting which the main course was brats.
In September the knights also helped out decorating the Labor Day float for the Dante and Wagner parish. Clayton Rados, Dick Soukup, Ron Soukup, Doug Kniffen, Jamie Soukup, Paul Eggers and Larry Nedved all helped build the float! Thanks to Wagner Building Supply for letting us use there she to store and work on the float!
On Sunday September 8th the Knights held the first annual trap shoot at Erik Cimpls! There was a very nice group of 31 shooters and a few spectators at the event. Shooters came from all around the area and said they will attend next year! The games were two rounds of two man teams, a round of four man teams and a couple rounds of Annie Oakley. The shooting lasted around two hours! A special thanks to Dan and Erik Cimpl for all the work and hosting the event and also all the knights that attended. Money raised by the event will go towards the scholarship fund and or special needs of the community. Dan Koupal bought supplies for the event and also donated them which was very appreciated.
On Oct 1st the council held our monthly meeting and we had large group of 31 members present. The weekend before the knights sold run raffle tickets at St. Johns Bazaar and a special thanks to all who helped! The drawing for the gun will be at our November meeting and tickets are still available! The council voted to donate $250 to Aden Bisson who is a young boy from Tyndall and is struggling with many health issues. The council also voted to donate money to help buy books that will be for rediscovering the saints! Father Jim was unable to attend but supplied an activity for the council. Tom Kocer and Fran Kocer were the cooks for the meal and made excellent loaded baked potatoes. On Sunday September 6th Father Jim held a Respect Life Prayer service east of Wagner at our K of C Shrine. Many knights and members of the parishes attended to hold signs and pray!
Monthly meetings are always the first Tuesday of the month. The November meeting will be Tuesday November 5th at 7pm at St. John’s Catholic Church in Wagner.
