Andes Central Teacher Spotlights
By
Justus Winter
Justus Winter teaches K-12 Art and grew up right here in Lake Andes. He attended Northern State University, the University of Sioux Falls and the University of South Dakota. Throughout his years of schooling, Justus found a strong interest in Sociology. Outside of school Justus enjoys disc golfing and he collects 6th-8th generation hard copies of videogames. A couple other physical activities Justus finds to be cathartic is knife throwing and archery. Currently, his favorite snack is sweet chili pistachios and his favorite quote comes from Kahlil Gibran-The Prophet: " He who wears his morality but as his best garment were better naked. The wind and the sun will tear no holes in his skin. And he who defines his conduct by ethics imprisons his song-bird in a cage. The freest song comes not through bars and wires. And he to whom worshipping is a window, to open but also to shut, has not yet visited the house of his soul whose windows are from dawn to dawn." Justus finds the most joy in his job overall. Getting to do what he loves while working alongside families and descendants of people he grew up with is the biggest blessing to him. He jests "If it weren't for the desk work, this job would be the greatest!"
