IF NOT, WHAT ARE THEY?
MATTHEW 6:7-13 The disciples asked Jesus to teach them how to pray, Jesus responded: "But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking. Be not ye therefore like unto them: For your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask Him. After this manner pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil: For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen."
As we have seen in this scripture reference, God is not interested in us saying the same thing over and over, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do.
God knows what your needs are before you ask Him for them.
These verses from 9 to 13 are not a prayer. If they are not a prayer, what are they? They constitute a menu for what needs to be in your prayers, not memorized, but from your heart individually. In your own words asking what you are asking God to do for you. Not give us this day our daily bread, but in your own words. Provide for us all we need home, shelter, job, finances, food supply etc., in your own words.
As we forgive our debtors, forgive us in the same manner as we forgive those who are debtors to us. Give us grace to overcome temptations to do evil. Then give Him credit for all He is, God, in His kingdom, with all glory and power forever.
Once you have included all the ingredients of His prayer menu then you can end with, Amen.
Jesus did not say, in these words, but He said in this manner, suggesting what to put into your own personal prayer.Be sure to give Him credit for Who He is and then request from Him what you want from Him.
Do you follow His menu when you pray?
