WHAT ELSE WOULD YOU NEED

Pastor/Founder of the Grace Baptist Church, Lake Andes since 1988 M ATTHEW 16: 1-4 The Pharisees and the Sadducees came, and tempting, desired him that he would shew them a sign from heaven.

He answered, and said unto them, when it is evening, Yè say, it will be fair weather, for the sky is red.

And in the morning it will be foul weather today: for the sky is lowing (threatening). O ye hypocrites, ye can discern the face of the sky, but ye cannot discern the sign of the times?

A wicked and adulterous generation they seeketh after a sign and there shall no sign be given unto it, but the sign of Jonas the Prophet and he left them and departed.

but never from our hearts'

If you have been reading your Bible as you shouldyou would see that these four verses of Chapter 16 come right after Jesus had taken seven loaves of bread and a few little fishes--Blessed them and passed them out to a crowd of four thousand men plus their wifes and children, probably over even thousand people and they were fed to the full with fragments of the seven baskets full, one left over basket for each of the seven loaves that He started with.

Now after He did that tremendous miracle the Pharisees and Sadducees asked a very stupid question. Will you show us a sign from Heaven?

I wonder how they could witness what Jesus had just done--and not know that what He had just done--and not know that it was a sign from Heaven. Then Jesus told them that they were smart enough to discern the weather by what the sky looked like-but they were not able to discern the miracle Jesus had done as a sign from Heaven. Then Jesus told them that they were a wicked and adulterous generation seeking another sign--and He told them there shall no sign be given, but the sign of Jonas the Prophet.

Jesus was saying that Jonas was in the belly of a whale for three days and nights and came out alive-this was Jesus preaching that He would be buried in a tomb for 3 days and 3 nights and He would raise from the grave--alive--and is alive today.

Now Jesus was foretelling His Own physical futurebut also His Glorius resurrection after His death on the cross for all men's sins.

What else would you need to believe in Him?
