JESUS WAS SINLESS

By

MATTHEW 4:1 "Then was Jesus led of the spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil." (KJV) We find in the next verses 2-10 that Jesus was tempted by the devil. He was tempted by the devil in the very same way as he tempted Eve in the Garden. He used the same method in the three ways, the lust of the eyes, the lust of the flesh and the pride of life.

All three were applied in tempting Eve and she fell for his overwhelming lie to her and she did sin against God and Adam followed her in her sin and he sinned and they both lost everything. Especially they were separated from God, kicked out of the Garden and were cursed by God, man had to work and woman had to have children in pain and so on.

Jesus refused the devil's temptations of the eye, the flesh and pride.

VS:4 "Jesus answered the devil, saying, man should not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God."(KJV)

Vs:7 "Jesus saith unto him it is written again, thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God."(KJV)

Vs:10 "And he saith unto him, get thee hence Satan: for it is written, thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve."(KJV)

With these three responses to the devil one can see that Jesus did not fall for the devil's temptations to sin.

Jesus was sinless!

Now today the devil tempts us, using the same method as with Eve and with our Lord Jesus. He is still using methods that work for him to cause men to sin against God, thus separating them from God and losing all blessings from God, they become dead spiritually.

In order to remedy this situation in their life for falling into sin by the eyes the flesh or pride Jesus knowing what it was like to be tempted and knowing that man would fall, gave Himself a sacrifice to pay for man's sins by dying on the cross shedding His blood thus giving man another chance to love honor and obey Him.

Those who believe in Him, confess their sins and repent of them, ask for mercy and forgiveness and are promised eternal life are saved.

Remember if and when you are tempted that Jesus was tempted and He will give you sufficient grace to refuse the temptation.

JAMES 4:7 "Submit yourselves therefore unto God, resist the devil, and he will flee from you."(KJV)

MATTHEW 4:11 "After Jesus rebuked Satan then the devil leaveth Him."(KJV)

He will leave you as well.

What now will you do when you are tempted?
