BHSA Girls win at Sioux Falls

HELLMANN AND TOLSMA CHAMPIONS
With all nine wrestlers placing, the Bon Homme/ Scotland/Avon girls won the Floyd Farrand Girls Invitational at Sioux Falls Lincoln on December 30. There were 24 teams participating. Peyton Hellmann-145 and Ashley Tolsma-152 won their weight classes, Britney Rueb-126 and Hope Kemnitz-185 finished second, Hadlee Kracht-132 was third, Jasmine Ruelas-Hertz-114 was fourth, Sydney Johnson-100 and Bailey Kemnitz-138 were fifth, and Harper Kracht-120 placed seventh. Peyton Hellmann-145 had a bye, won by fall in 1:21 over Paige Jonas (Sully Buttes), won by fall in 1:42 over Brianna Kelly (Harrisburg), and in the championship won by tech. fall 16-1 in 4:08 over Sandra Moves Camp (Lakota Tech). Ashley Tolsma-152 had a bye, won by fall in :48 over Penelope Bruneau (Viborg-Hurley/ Irene-Wakonda), won by fall in 1:42 over Turista Haagenstad (SF Jefferson), and won by fall in :43 over Lakynn Qualseth (Canton) in the championship. Britney Rueb-126 won by fall in 1:16 over Noelani Bossman (SF Lincoln), won by fall in 1:36 over Marin Rhode (Canton), won by fall in 2:51 over Olivia Kolbrek (SF Washington), and in the championship match lost by injury default (knee) in 1:51 to fourth-rated Cateri Yellow Hawk (Sully Buttes). Hope Kemnitz-185 had a bye, won by fall in 2:42 over Macie Letsche (SF Jefferson), won by fall in 2:55 over Rayna Miler (Viborg-Hurley/Irene-Wakonda), and in the championship lost by fall in 1:00 to number-one rated Allison Konrad (Watertown). Hadlee Kracht-132 had a bye, won by fall in :30 over Eryn Plenty Wolf (Lakota Tech), lost by fall in 2:28 to seventh-rated Reese Olson (Beresford/Alcester-Hudson), came back to win by fall in :37 over Jude Miller (SF Jefferson), and won by fall in 3:55 over Jersey Folkens (Canton) to place third. Jasmine Ruelas-Hertz-114 had a bye, lost by fall in 3:19 to sixth-rated Aubrey Jenson (Viborg-Hurley/Irene-Wakonda), came back to win by fall in 2:25 over Evelyn Van Den Oever (Brandon Valley), won by fall in 2:03 over fifth-rated Nayeli Ortega (Canton), won by major decision 17-7 over Soobin Seo (SF Lincoln), and lost by a 11-7 decision to Brandy Marshall (Lakota Tech) to finish fourth. Sydney Johnson-100 won by fall in 3:24 over Iva Black Elk (Lakota Tech), lost by fall in :33 to Jaynie Perkins (Lakota Tech), came back to win by fall in 2:20 over Claire Milliron (Brookings), won by fall in 1:37 over Charlee Ann Winter (Canton), lost by fall in 2:26 to seventh-rated Gracie Peters (Brandon Valley), and won by fall in 4:25 over Iva Black Elk (Lakota Tech) to place fifth. Bailey Kemnitz-138 won by fall in :51 over River Respects Nothing (Lakota Tech), lost by fall in 3:40 to Cheyenne Fuller (Sully Buttes), came back to win by fall in 3:49 over Teagan Bowers (Harrisburg), won by fall in 3:28 over Kayla Schoolmeester (Viborg-Hurley/Irene-Wakonda), lost by fall in 4:05 to Kyla Logan (Doland), and won by fall in 1:12 over McKenzie Scott (Dakota Valley) for fifth place. Harper Kracht-120 won by fall in 1:41 over Nika Rasmussen (Lennox), lost by fall in :37 to second-rated Finley Evjen (Canton), won by fall in 2:15 over Ragan Peacock (Harrisburg), lost by fall in 1:56 to fifth-rated Lilly Toft (Brookings), and won in sudden victory overtime 10-7 over Sage Hill (Canton). BHSA took the team title with 179.5 points, followed closely by Lakota Tech-175, Watertown-152.5, Canton-124, Viborg-Hurley/Iene-Wakonda-117, Brandon Valley-99, Sioux Falls Jefferson-84.5, Sioux Falls Washington-56, Sisseton-54.5, and Sully Buttes-52 to round out the top ten of the 24 teams. Coach Comments: It took all nine girls to medal to win this tournament. We had 25 pins (bonus points) helping the cause. Coach Hellmann and I are very proud of all of them. All of us are hoping for the best for Britney in her recovery from her knee injury
