Mrs. Dawn Kitchenmaster teaches Kindergarten at Andes Central School. She grew up on a farm outside of Hawarden, Iowa. After graduating high school she attended college in Orange City, Iowa at Northwestern College. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education and a Minor in Elementary Music.

Dawns favorite subject as a student was Math and into her adult years still loves Math but now Reading as well. Dawn reflects fondly on her first teaching job as she taught eight students, each in five different grades, in a one-room country school. Describing it being similar to 'Little House on the Prairie' as it was much different in comparison to teaching present day schooling yet quaint in an endearing way.

During her free time, Dawn enjoys spending time with her granddaughter, playing the piano and spending time outside by gardening and going for walks. Her all-time favorite treat she insists is 'the best!' is Culver's chocolate custard with peanut butter cups and cheesecake pieces. Her favorite quote comes from the book of Jeremiah verse 23:11, 'For I know the plans I have for you' , declares the Lord, 'plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.'

Something that brings Dawn the most joy as a Kindergarten teacher is that her students hold so many opportunities to experience excitement and enthuasim with all of the new things they learn. One of her favorite things to witness students get excited about is when they're learning how to read and realizing they can do it all by themselves!
