Mr. Cole Johnson is both a teacher and coach at Andes Central. He teaches Middle School Math and is the Head Coach for wrestling as well as the coach for the Junior High football team. Cole grew up on the out skirts of Sioux Falls surrounded by open land and corn fields before the area became too crowded amidst the house building boom. There he attended West Central School District until his family moved out to White Lake in 2006.

He graduated from White Lake High School and pursued his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of South Dakota. Recently, Cole decided to further his education more through Black Hills State University. Throughout his academic years, Cole has always considered Math to be his strongest subject and he continues to feel as such as an adult and teacher.

From an early age, Mr. Johnson developed a deep love for the outdoors, spending his childhood doing just about anything and everything outdoor wise. As Cole has gotten older that love is still present as he enjoys fishing and bow hunting. He shares his passion for the outdoors with his family by taking a yearly summer trip out to Yellowstone National Park for a month. Cole’s favorite part of the trip is spending the early mornings scouting for wildlife in the Lamar Valley, then switching to fly fishing once the day begins to warm. During their Yellowstone trip last summer, Cole was to be pictured fly fishing in a post for a business in Montana.

One of his favorite treats to snack on is Kit Kats and has recently gained a newfound obsession with Reeses's Fast Breaks. Cole's favorite quote instills an optimistic narrative that it's okay to not get something on the first try, 'No one is perfect, that's why pencils have erasers'. He enjoys bringing that optimism to his teaching by supporting his students when they are understanding something new and feels great joy when he's able to reassure them theyre on the right track.
