The Wagner Boys Basketball team lost a heartbreaker to the Winner Warriors Friday night to open their season. The Warriors made a shot as time expired in overtime to defeat Wagner 51-49. The game was close from start to finish, neither team held more than a 7 point lead. Wagner trailed 14-10 after the first period and 24-21 at halftime. The game was knotted at 36 after three periods and 44 after four quarters. Winner outscored Wagner 7-5 in overtime. The Raiders trailed by 3 with 24 seconds left, Jesse Zephier made a 3 point basket to tie the game with 7.8 seconds left. Winner dribbled the ball the length of the court and made a jump shot to win the game as time expired. Preston McFayden led the boys with 17 points and had 6 rebounds. Parker Petry scored 10 points and grabbed 6 rebounds. Brady Cournoyer led the team with 9 rebounds and scored 9 points. Carlos Galindo added 7 points, and had 4 assists. Jesse Zephier scored 6 points and had 5 assists. The boys travel to Plankinton on Tuesday night.
Wagner JV Loses to Winner The Wagner Boys JV team fell to Winner Friday night. Wagner led 6-5 after the first period but failed to score in the second period and trailed 16-6 at the half. The Raiders were outscored 13-12 in the second half and lost 29-18. Ky Arpan scored 12 points for Wagner. Leon Fields and Avery Medicine Bear each scored 3 points.
Raiders Win C Game Sudden Death Thriller The Wagner C team defeated Winner in a triple overtime sudden death thriller on Friday Night. Payne Petry hit the game winning shot to left the Raiders over Winner by a score of 27-25. Petry led the team with 13 points. AJ Kotab added 6 points for Wagner. Avery Medicine Bear, Zaiden Ross, Jacob Kotab, and Bailer Lhotak all scored 2 points a piece for Wagner.
