Mrs. Brenda DeHaan is the Andes Central K-12 librarian.
She didn't grow up in South Dakota but in Laurens, Iowa.
Since English has always been Brenda's favorite school subject, Brenda graduated from Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, Minnesota where she received her degree in English Education. She later looked into online classes to gain her library media certification through Montana State University in Bozeman.
From being surrounded by all kinds of literature everyday inspired Brenda to start writing and overtime she has written 40 books. She also loves to wire wrap items for decoration. Her favorite treats are a mix of salty and sweet, chocolate peppermint popcorn and chocolate covered peanuts.
Brenda's favorite quote comes from Henry James, ' Three things in human life are important: the first is to be kind, the second is to be kind, and the third is to be kind”. Brenda shows that kindness to the students who visit the library. She loves to help them with their reading as it makes her excited when they start to love reading more and more! Sometimes students will want the same book at the same time and Brenda solves things with a fun game of Rock, Paper, Scissors.
