There were only three matches wrestled on February 4 with BHSA on top 48-0: Winning by pin for BHSA were Hadlee Kracht-132, Bailey Kemnitz-138, and Ashley Tolsma-152, and winning by forfeit were Sydney Johnson-107, Jasmine Ruelas-Hertz-114, Harper Kracht-120, Peyton Hellmann-145, and Hope Kemnitz-185. Yankton Tournament With seven place-winners, Bon Homme/Scotland/Avon finished in fourth place of 34 teams at the Yankton girls wrestling tournament on February 7. Senior Peyton Hellmann, who was named the outstanding wrestler by the coaches, took the 145-pound championship and achieved a career milestone with 150 pins, senior Ashley Tolsma finished second at 152, Sophomore Hadlee Kracht placed third at 126, Sophomore Jasmine Ruelas-Hertz-114 and Freshman Bailey Kemnitz-132 both finished fifth, seventh grader Harper Kracht-120 and Junior Hope Kemnitz-185 both were eighth. Sydney Johnson-seventh grade-100 lost a 6-2 decision to Gracie Peters (Brandon Valley), and lost by fall to Charlee Ann Winter (Canton) in 4:43, Jasmine Ruelas-Hertz-114 won by fall over Anna Field (Sioux Valley) in :23, won by fall over Aubrey Kensen (Viborg-Hurley/Irene-Wakonda) in 3:16, lost a 7-0 decision to top-rated Alexis Bryant (McCook Central/Montrose), lost by fall to Brooklynn Smith (RC Stevens) in 4:07, and won by fall over Aubrey Jensen (VH/IW) in 2:35 for fifth. Harper Kracht-120 won by fall over Bailey Miller (Tea Area) in :16, lost a hard-fought 12-10 decision to fourth-rated Frankie Kranz (Mitchell), won by fall over Ragan Peacock (Harrisburg) in 1:51, lost by fall to Alexis Brenden (Yankton) in :54, and lost by fall to Jocelyn Rumpca (Webster Area) in 3:17 to finish eighth. Hadlee Kracht-126 went 4-1 on the day winning by fall over Josie Althoff (Watertown) in 2:26, won by fall over fifth-rated Hadley Bryant (Harrisburg) in 5:29, lost by tech fall to top-rated Dani Ringstmeyer (Pierre) in 6:00, won by fall over Eliana Zent (RC Stevens) in 1:53, and in the consolation match won a 12-10 decision over Hadley Bryant (Harrisburg) to place third. Bailey Kemnitz-132 had a bye won by fall over Joyah Tilberg (RC Central) in 4:34 lost by tech fall to Danny Borja (Mitchell) in 5:29, lost by tech fall to Daytona Paris (Burke/Gregory) in 3:55, and won by fall over Say Glay (Huron) in 4:31 for fifth. Peyton Hellmann-145 won by fall (which was career pin number 150) over Turista Haagenstad (SF Jefferson) in 1:36, won by fall over Devrah Meyer (Madison) in 1:13, won by fall over seventh-rated Winry Yaggie (Yankton) in 1:43, and in the championship won by tech fall over number-two rated Ireland Tempelton (Pierre) in 2:36. Ashley Tolsma-152 had a bye, won by fall over Ravyn Whitlow (Douglas-Rapid City Christian/New Underwood) in :47 which was her 50th career victory, won by fall over Kenzie King (Canton) in 2:32, and in the championship lost by fall to top-rated Abbigail Lewis (Pierre) in 3:12 for second. Hope Kemnitz-185 wrestled three rated wrestlers losing by fall to Rayna Miller (Viborg-Hurley/Irene-Wakonda) in 1:53, won a 7-1 decision over Aleya Ruzicka (Yankton), won a 5-0 decision over seventh-rated Blair Merkwan (Vermillion), lost a 5-0 decision to third-rated Marlee Heitzel (Spearfish), and lost by fall to eighth-rated Macie Letsche (SF Jefferson) in :48 to finish in eighth place. Canton took the team title with 176.5 points, followed by Pierre T.F. Riggs-161, Watertown-133.5, Bon Homme/Scotland/Avon fourth with 110.5 points, Rapid City Stevens-103, Harrisburg-102, Spearfish-89, Mitchell-66.5, Yankton-62, and Viborg-Hurley/Irene-Wakonda-60 naming the top ten teams of 34 participating. Congratulations to Peyton for career pin number 150 and for being named the outstanding wrestler. BHSA will wrestle in the Region 3 girls tournament at Aberdeen on Thursday, February 20, starting at 3:00. The top four placers will compete in the state tournament in Rapid City starting on February 27.
