Pria Sessler drove in four runs on two hits to lead the Pirates past Elkton/Lake Benton 16-4 on Saturday. Sessler singled in the first inning, scoring two runs, and singled in the fourth inning, scoring two.
The Varsity Lady Pirates jumped out to the lead in the bottom of the first inning after Sessler singled, scoring two runs, Macy Voigt singled, scoring one run, Lexi Vanderlei singled, scoring one run, Jordyn Voigt was struck by a pitch, driving in a run, and Rilyn Thury singled, scoring two runs.
Adding to their early lead in the bottom of the second inning, Brielle Voigt walked, and Kaydence Metzger scored after tagging up, each scoring one run.
In the bottom of the third inning, Thury singled, scoring two runs, Voigt singled, scoring one run, and Ashley Tolsma grounded out, scoring one run.
Voigt led things off in the circle for Avon. The starting pitcher surrendered five hits and four runs over five innings, striking out nine and walking six.
Voigt, Thury, and Sessler each collected two hits for Avon. Metzger led with three walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, accumulating 12 walks for the game. Tolsma, Metzger, and Sessler each stole multiple bases. The Ladies were sure-handed and didn't commit a single error.
