Avon Community Blood Drive Supports Patients with Lifesaving Donations Avon community members stepped up in a big way this June, turning compassion into action at the most recent Avon Community Blood Drive. Thanks to their generosity, 19 units of blood were collected from 15 donors – enough to support up to 57 patients in local hospitals, many of whom are cancer patients in urgent need of blood during treatment. Why It Matters Cancer patients are among the most frequent recipients of blood transfusions. Whether undergoing chemotherapy or recovering from surgery, these individuals rely on a steady blood supply to continue their fight.
