The Avon boys’ basketball team has a new head coach this season, Marshall Faulkner. Coach Faulkner is assisted by Coach Dan Fathke. Faulkner been a coach for two years. This year’s team has a good mix of both upper and underclassmen. The seniors on this year’s team are Aziah Meyer, John Fathke, Landon Mudder, Trevor Eggers and Pierce Jonkers. Al’shamon Gunter, Jamison Pelton, Jacob Ratzlaff and Lance Odens make up the juniors on the squad. Sophomore team members include Grayson Ratzlaff, Dominic Doom and Braylon Fathke. Up and coming freshmen team members include Alvin Gunter and Easton Sees. One of the biggest highlights of last year’s season was the team advancing to the second round of regions. This year the team’s goal is to be more competitive on the court and to improve upon their win/loss record from last year. Key players of this season’s team that will be looked at to lead the team are Aziah Meyer who was All-Conference Little Missouri Valley Conference (LMVC) and a team captain; John Fathke who was named to the All-Conference LMVC team; Landon Mudder who was named All Conference for the Great Plains Conference and a team captain; and Trevor Eggers who is also a team captain. The Pirates tip off their season with an away game on Thursday, December 12th against Colome with the varsity game beginning at 7:30 p.m. Best of luck on the upcoming season! Go Pirates!
