Mrs. Julie Rysavy teaches Choral and Instrumental for grades 6th-12th and grew up on a farm in Dante. She attended multiple colleges earning her multiple degrees. One of which was a degree in Business/ MusicattheUniversityof SouthDakota. She then went on to attended Mount Marty College and earned degrees in K-12 Music Education (Choral, Instrumental, Orchestra), Music Performance, Liturgical Music, and Business Education. Growing up her favorite subject as a student was math.
Nowadays, her favorite hobbies/ special interests include, gardening both vegetables and flowers, quilting, making wreaths, reading, animals,oilpainting,jigsawpuzzles, and traveling with her kids and grandkids.
One of the most surprising facts about Mrs. Rysavy is that she loves to trap, hunt and fish! With these skills she hopes to achieve her goal of trapping a bobcat someday. She also is proficient in operating heavy equipment such as an excavator, a pay-loader and a skid loader! Her favorite snack is licorice and her favorite motto to live by is the Golden Rule, 'Do unto others as you would want done unto you.'
Mrs.Rysavyfindsthemostjoyin seeingstudentslightupwhenthey see her and hearing how much excitement and love they have for music. She loves witnessing how proud they are of their accomplishments and the joy in their faces when achieving something they thought wasn't possible.
Brooke Johnson
Ms. Brooke Johnson teaches Middle School Social Studies and grew up in Hartford. She furthered her high school studies at the University of South Dakota earning her a Bachelor's Degree in K-8 Elementary Education.
As a student she enjoyed Reading as a class and in general as well as Language Arts.
Outside of school, Ms. Johnson is quite the traveler. She has traveled to seven different countries outside of the United States.
Her favorite snack is either chips and salsa or banana flavored Laffy Taffy. Johnson takes inspiration from the quote, 'Good things take time.'
For Ms. Johnson, starting her classes brings her the most joy to her days. She loves to greet her students with a warm welcome such as 'Goodmorning everybody!' or 'Hello everybody!' Her students will sometimes join in unison with her, which she says is awesome.
