2025 SHELLY SCHUH MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP ANNOUNCED

$500 available to graduating high school seniors in four-county area

Graduating seniors from four area South Dakota counties are invited to apply for the $500 Shelly Schuh Memorial scholarship.

Qualified applicants are spring 2025 graduating seniors from public high schools in Charles Mix, Hutchinson, Douglas and Aurora counties who will pursue post-secondary education degrees from a vocational school, junior college or university. Applications are available via high school guidance counselors.

Applications are available from high school guidance counselors. The deadline to submit a completed application along with a resume, transcript, references and one-page essay is April 25, 2025.

Rhonda (Schuh) Schulte and her husband Ray Schulte established the scholarship in 2023 to honor her father Shelton “Shelly” Schuh, who passed away Feb. 15, 2020. Parkston High School graduate Preston Mattheis was the 2023 scholarship recipient. Tanner Dyk of Platte received the 2024 award.

Shelly Schuh, born in 1941, grew up on a farm near Delmont. He lived most of his life in southeastern South Dakota where he raised cattle, bought and sold horses, ran several livestock sale barns and worked as a public school teacher.
