The Avon Lady Pirates are excited for the third year of High School Softball. The Ladies finished 6-12 last year and just missed qualifying for the sweet 16. The Pirates return a strong contingent of players from last year's team. Leading the team will be senior Macy Voigt who was the leading hitter and starting pitcher from last year. We are looking for another strong year from Macy both on the hill and at the plate. Her battery mate Ashley Tolsma is also expected to make major contributions both on the defensive side as well as offensively. Kaeli Wallinga rounds out this talented senior class and will find playing time both at first base and in the outfield. Returning Juniors Abby Gretschmann and Lexi Vanderlei will be chasing down flyballs in the outfield. Two talented sophomores, Rilyn Thury and Jordyn Voigt also return. Rilyn is a great all-around pitcher, infielder, and hitter who is a major threat to steal when on base. Jordyn is a jack of all trades and will be playing a variety of positions as well as serving as our leadoff hitter. Freshman Kaydence Metzger will add additional support on the hill and has greatly improved from last year. Freshman Pria Sesler will be a reliable hitter in the 3 hole. We are fortunate to have a talented group of 7th and 8th graders who will be pushing for playing time. The coaches are very excited to work with this remarkable group of girls. The team is coached by Paul Kuhlman and assisted by Tom Pier, Christena Culver, and Laura Haynes.
